Who we are
At Roche, 80,000 people across 150 countries are pushing back the frontiers of healthcare. Working together, we’ve become one of the world’s leading research-focused healthcare groups. Our success is built on innovation, curiosity and diversity, and on seeing each other’s differences as an advantage. To innovate healthcare, Roche has ambitious plans to keep learning and growing – and is seeking people who have the same goals for themselves.
The headquarters in Basel is one of Roche’s largest sites. It is home to the Corporate Executive Committee, the Pharmaceuticals and Diagnostics Divisions and the global business functions. Roche Basel also covers the entire business chain from research, development and production through to marketing. Over 8,000 people from more than 60 countries work at the site.
The Position RNCB is a Roche-wide cell bank for cell cultures and plasmids used and generated in research. The RNCB orders externally available cell lines for all research labs in Basel, grows and maintains stock cultures and distributes the cells in constant quality to labs. It exchanges stock cultures with all other Roche sites as needed. Hybridomas and recombinant
cell lines generated in-house are collected and stored in RNCB. Stock cultures are generated and tested for all cell lines entered to the RNCB. A database that is online available to all scientists at Roche is maintained with all available information on each cell line. Introduction of lab-automation is planned to facilitate the work. Technologies and procedures for stock cultures are continuously improved and shared in the international community.
Who you are
You’re someone who wants to influence your own development. You’re looking for a company
where you have the opportunity to pursue your interests across functions and geographies, and where a job title is not considered the final definition of who you are, but the starting point.
Excellent organization skills, accurate working and know-how in cell culture lab work (primary, established, recombinant) are mandatory. Daily interactions with research scientists and international cell bank companies and universities require good communication skills and knowledge of languages (English and German are mandatory). Knowledge in logistics of recombinant organisms and biosafety regulations would be advantageous, as well as experience with large database applications and lab automation.
