In the Max-Planck-Institute of Molecular Physiology, Department of Systemic Cell Biology in Dortmund/Germany a Postdoctoral position

Postdoctoral position is available for a 3-year BMBF financed project.
Cell-matrix adhesion is a fundamental process by which cells interact with their immediate
environment, sense and respond to it, control their morphology and migrate. These functions are
mediated by dynamic adhesion sites located along the plasma membrane of the cell and
composed of numerous different proteins interacting with each other. We will develop and apply
advanced fluorescence-microscopy imaging, statistical, computational and systems biology
approaches in order to study how adhesion sites get organized and respond to different
extracellular and intracellular cues. For this project we are looking for post-doctoral fellows
enthusiastic about systems biology and interdisciplinary work, with a background in biology or
physics.
Postdoctoral position (P4) in the groups of Dr. Hernán Grecco and Dr. Eli Zamir: Establishment
of optical instrumentations and applying them toward the biological questions of the project.
Requirements: Ph.D. degree in physics or a related field and strong interest in systems biology.
Women and handicapped people are explicitly invited to apply.
Please send applications to Dr. Hernán Grecco, E-Mail: hernan-edgardo.grecco@mpidortmund.
mpg.de and to Dr. Eli Zamir, E-Mail: eli.zamir@mpi-dortmund.mpg.de. In your
application, please refer to the position (P4) you apply for and include a cover letter, recent CV,
copies of your certificates as well as two names of references with contact details. Please submit
all documents before May 10th, 2009.
Starting date of the position: August 1st, 2009.
