In the Max-Planck-Institute of Molecular Physiology, Department of Systemic Cell Biology in Dortmund/Germany a PhD position

PhD position is available for a 3-year BMBF financed project.

Cell-matrix adhesion is a fundamental process by which cells interact with their immediate
environment, sense and respond to it, control their morphology and migrate. These functions are
mediated by dynamic adhesion sites located along the plasma membrane of the cell and
composed of numerous different proteins interacting with each other. We will develop and apply
advanced fluorescence-microscopy imaging, statistical, computational and systems biology
approaches in order to study how adhesion sites get organized and respond to different
extracellular and intracellular cues. For this project we are looking for PhD students enthusiastic
about systems biology and interdisciplinary work, with a background in biology or physics.
PhD position (P3): Developing statistical approaches and computational tools for analyzing the
molecular organization of adhesion sites. Requirements: Master/diploma degree in physics or a
related field, strong programming and theoretical capabilities as well as interest in systems
